We are all attracted to the success stories that come out of no-where but sometimes it seems that stars are attracted to failure as well. There are a number of stories of child-stars embracing failure and in most of these cases these stars go waste or even taste death. Child stardom can be disastrous as child is the most inefficient to handle the glamor and riches of stardom. This is because the wealth that comes with stardom creates ripples in the innocent child mind and leads him/her to wrongs.

1) Lindsay Lohan – 1986-

At eleven, Lohan got her first date with fame when she played the lead in the remake of the famed movie “The Parent Trap”. She became an instant hit in movies and as well as music but that led her to the star stud Hollywood parties as well. As the life went on in the fast lane for a number of years, it started to show negative impact in 2007. She was fired from the cast of the movie “Georgia Rule” as the producer of the movie claimed that her late night partying was the reason for her over-exhaustion. After this incident there were a number of incidents where she had to face number of arrests and rehab. She confessed to having DUI and cocaine possession and was sentenced to jail for one day and probation of three years. However, since 2009 she has started to work her way back to the top of Hollywood.

2) Britney Spears1981-

Britney was considered to be one of the bright future stars in her teens. She started as a pre-teen sensation on “The New Mickey Mouse Club” and went on to be a pop star with the release of her 1998 album “Baby One More Time”. Her downgrade started in 2007, when she broke down before an army of paparazzi. As she lost the custody of her children to Kevin Federline, her slump deepened further. She attacked a photographer with an umbrella. Her downgrade continues as she shaved her head and was involuntarily admitted to a psychiatric ward.

3) Danny Bonaduce 1959-

He is known for his work in the famed “Partridge Family” but as this series ended, he got into serious problems. He was twice caught for the possession of Cocaine, in 1985 and 1990. He confessed that he was an addict and to such an extent that he could not dare to wait till the pipe cooled. This act of his had produced burns on his hands and lips. This behavior of his ended his marriage as well, to which he and his wife Gretchen admitted in a reality TV show.

4) Brad Renfro – 1982 – 2008

At the age of 10, he had the honor of working on “The Client” – a John Grisham novel. Before this he had only worked in a play organized by DARE against drugs. He and one of his friends were caught trying to steal a 45-foot yacht. He was caught for trying to buy heroin in 2005 in Los Angeles. He was also imprisoned for six days for driving in a drunken state. Renfro’s mischief’s led to his death at the age of 25, when he died due to heroin over-dose.

5) Bobby Driscoll – 1937 – 1968

Bobby was blessed with enormous amount of talent. He was “Golden boy” of Disney at the age of nine and after attaining the age of 13 he was awarded miniature Oscar. As he reached the age of puberty, he faced severe problems due to acne and at the age of 18 he was caught with marijuana. This forced the producers to rethink about hiring him. He forged a $45 check and stole $450 from a clinic, for which he was arrested. His body was found by two boys in an abandoned tenement, in New York on 30th March 1968.

6) Dana Plato – 1964 – 1999

This childhood prodigy started her stardom at the age of seven, when she started making commercials. At the age of 14, she was cast in the famed serial “Diff’rent Strokes”. However, after getting pregnant, she was asked to leave the serial. After this she could not find work and had to star in soft-core porn. She was arrested for using a pellet gun to rob a video store in 1991 and finally she ended her life with drug overdose at the age of 35.

7) Todd Bridges

He was also a “Diff’rent Strokes” star. Bridges started his date with troubles in 1983, when he was arrested for possessing a concealed weapon. He was again arrested in 1987 for threatening a car dealer with a bomb. His biggest mischief was the attempt to murder the cocaine dealer in 1989, when he was tried for it. In 1997, he was arrested again for assaulting a friend and was acquitted later. But after this, he became a born-again Christian and began to speak against drug abuse in schools.

8) Scotty Beckett – 1929 – 1968

He worked in numerous films as a child and also appeared in 15 “Our Gang” shots. His biggest adult hit was the sci-fi TV show called as “Rocky Jones, Space Ranger” but this stint ended with his arrest in 1954. He fled to Mexico while on bail and due to a shootout with police had to spend 4 months in jail. In US, again he was charged with crimes such as drug abuse, drunken driving and was imprisoned. He died at the age of 39, due to the overdose of barbiturates.

9) Michael Jackson – 1958-2009

His stardom started at the age of eleven, when with his brothers, he rocked the world with Jackson 5. In his adulthood, he emerged as a pop icon and referred by many as the best ever in the world. In 1993, he was charged by the father of a 13 year old boy of child sex abuse, to which his sister also supported. He settled the issue for a whopping $20 million but later confessed to Martin Bashir in an interview of sleeping with many children in the same bed. This led to his prosecution and was found guilty of child sex abuse in 2005. He died in mysterious circumstances in June 2009.

10) Robert Blake 1933-

This star started his career at the age of three in a song-and-dance act. He achieved popularity in Hollywood due to his roles in short films – OUR Gang. He had faced problems in childhood because of his father’s alcoholic addiction, which later reflected in his persona. He became popular, even during his bad times. His show “Baretta” proved to be a big success. He was wrongly charged of killing his wife and was ordered to pay a sum of $15 million to her children.
