Every person is having an icon in his life to whom he/she looks up to and dreams to be like some day and with the rising awareness among the youth about the fashion world and the recent trends, having a fashion designer as popular as talented as Alexander McQueen wouldn’t really be a shocking news for anyone. The achievements and contributions in the international fashion world have been too many to enlist at a single place. The shining star of the fashion world and indeed the favourite of every celebrity when it came to getting a dress designed for a public appearance, Lee Alexander McQueen was a couturier and a British fashion designer whose legacy will live longer than his own lifetime.
Famous for his deep knowledge about the men’s fashion, the famous designer did not have any connections in the industry when he entered the fashion world. However, with his visionary insight and knowledge of tailoring and dressing people to enhance their features, he appeared as one of the most successful designers whom every celebrity admired when it came to getting a dress for them. An open gay and the man, whose life was actually an open book for the media, his achievements in the fashion world bagged him British Designed of the Year award for four times along with a CFDA’s International Designer of the Year Award. Also, the InStyle magazine listed one of his dressed that he has designed for Camilla Belle in 2009 was listed among the ‘100 best dresses of the decade.’ He has also worked at the post of chief designer with a leading brand Givenchy for many years before launching his own brand “Alexander McQueen.”
However, his death in February, 2010 became as hot discussion topic in the town as his designs were. The designer, whose mother has died nine days before his own death was announced, was found hanging at his home by his housekeeper. The news came as a shock to the entire world with his family and the Alexander McQueen company employees being in such a huge grief. However, one of his really close friends confirmed that McQueen have been really depressed and unhappy in his last days and thus have started consuming drugs a lot. Even his post mortem reports confirmed that he had takes an overdose before hanging himself and thus his death was termed as suicide by the police after complete investigation. However, the style icon of the world will always be alive through his brand and his incredible designs which continue to be the favourite of all.
